Ever wondered how running Android would feel on your iPhone? Windows on your iPad? Does that sound like a fever dream?! Well, that dream is now a reality, thanks to the team behind UTM.

Behind the scenes, UTM uses QEMU, a popular virtualization suite. The team have linked the library into an iOS project and allowed the choice of arbitrary ISOs which opens the door to all sorts of wierd and wonderful operating systems on your iOS device.

Don’t worry. You won’t overwrite your iOS install nor will you corrupt your device, as UTM is effectively an iOS virtual machine. It also runs in the same sandbox as any other iOS app.

Unfortunately, its not quite as easy as just downloading from the App Store and installing your OS. Due to Apple’s strict guidelines around apps that contain interpreted or generated code, the app would not be allowed into their walked garden.

Fear not though, as you can download the project from their GitHub repo and install to your phone via Xcode.
